European iPhone Sales Falter
The iPhone sold about 70,000 units in Germany in the span of 11 weeks. This compares to France selling the same number of iPhone’s in only 1 month. If you look at the US though, the first 70,000 units were sold right off the bat with people waiting to get more. It is believed this slowdown is due to a better range of options for EU phone users.
Qtrax Offers iPod Friendly Tracks
This could devastate Apple’s iTunes. Qtrax, in case you didn’t know, is a sort of file sharing service. They are now planning to unleash the fury. Free downloads of music from major artists and labels for download. All in MP4 iPod supported format. Be on the lookout, this could be awesome. Of course for full movies for your iPod you’ll still have to pay on a per download basis through Apple or get into a low one time fee for a torrent service.
Obama Pledge: No New iPod Day After You Bought One
Watch the video to see it all, he might have gotten some new voters over this pledge.
iPhone v. 1.1.3 Firmware Is Jailbroken
The firmware for the 1.1.3 version of the iPhone has been jailbroken. This means you can unlock your iPhone… in April! That’s right, its not being released until after Apple updates their SDK. This is a video proof that its already done and waiting though.
Steve Jobs Smack Talks Zune
Steve Jobs was recently quoted as saying, “Was he inebriated? Do you even know anyone who owns a Zune?” when he heard that Robbie Bach from Microsoft said the Zune 2 was a pretty solid alternative to the iPod. Ouch folks, that one has to hurt. Shows how much they’re worried about competition.
China’s Biggest Provider Ends Talks With Apple Over iPhone
Today China Mobile announced they are ending their talks with Apple over bringing the iPhone to the Chinese market. They left no indication over why, but it seems pretty clear its due to Apples fee sharing demands. No iPhone for China!
Starbucks Creates iPhone Ordering Screen, Ahead Of Apple
Here are some pictures of the design, not the design used though! He created this interface before Apple released theirs, and although it seems to be better its not the real deal. Apple will be releasing their official iPhone order system on tuesday. Until then, here’s some shots:

First iPhone Trojan Reported
This is sort of to be expected. With less than a full year since release and already hitting such pop culture milestones as top search term for 2007 its not wonder people are devoting their time to Apple’s newest gadget, the iPhone. This trojan is on the prowl specifically for people who mod their iPhones to run 3rd party apps (most of you
). Luckily it seems it was an 11 year old kid messing around, after uninstalling the app it will display the word ’shoes’ and possibly damage some third party applications. That’s about it. Count yourselves lucky and be warned, hackers are on the way!
New SIM Card Claims To Unlock iPhone
There’s a new unlocking SIM card on the market. There’s been a lot of these around before but this one makes the bold claim of unlocking v1.1.2 iPhones and also bootloader 4.6. Not sure if its legit or not, but hopefully will be a help to some of the newer iPhone buyers.

Apple Sued Over Their iPod / iTunes Monopoly
It would appear however that this antitrust lawsuit may be a bit short-lived. Instead of going for the obvious - you have to use iTunes for your iPod (unless you have red hot). No this suit goes a bit more obscure. Wait, I can’t hold this part back anymore, have to stick it in where it doesn’t fit, of all people it is Microsoft filing an antitrust lawsuit! Anyways big M is claiming Apple is abusing its market leader position to intentionally block out WMAs, although I’m pretty sure I use iTunes to put WMA music on my iPod all the time… Perhaps they mean their Zunish DRM?
