AT&T: No Insurance For iPhone
AT&T has offered a new hugely reduced insurance plan for most cell phones, as little as $5/month. But wait, the iPhone isn’t covered! Not for $5/month, not for $500/month. If you want insurance on your iPhone, you’re SOL. I guess its a good thing Apple made them so perfectly and there will never be a problem with the iPhone.
Sybase iPhone Software Ready For Release
Sybase has developed a new software that will allow iPhone business users to securely transfer data via e-mail to and from their iPhones. This is pretty important as Apple has a lot of future business dreams based around the iPhone but not enough third party companies are exploring these new possibilities.
Orange Slated To Sell iPhones in Africa, Europe, And The Mid East
And what an announcement they made too. A one sentence press release. Orange currently operates as the iPhone provider in France and has reported it being one of there most profitable moves as of late so its no wonder they are now planning to become a carrier in nearly every one of their markets.
Canadians Who Bought iPods Early On Recieve $45 As Settlement
This was for Canadians who purchased a generation 1, 2, or 3 iPod before June 24, 2004. The lawsuit was based on the fact that the advertised battery life of 8 hours was in fact closer to 3 hours after frequent recharges. This same lawsuit filed in the US was settled earlier at a rate of $50 per customer. with 80,000 eligible Canadians at $45 a pop that comes out to 3.6 million, chump change for Apple.
iPod Touch & Touch Screen Technology Took Four Decades To Catch On
I don’t suppose anyone remembers that touch screen technology has been around since the 70’s. That’s probably because it never really took off and went mainstream. Now there’s Microsoft’s new touch technology that launched last week and of course Apple’s iPods (about a million different generations now) and iPhones. When searching for a reason none of this was ever heavily implemented before I came to the usual conclusion. Its all about money, marketing, and the big boys. Since all of the patents from the early 70’s expired it gave the powerhouse Apple room to bust it out, and patent it. With their huge marketing bucks the iPod has become an everyday, every home, part of American living.
Apple Files Lawsuit Over ‘Made For iPod’ Licensing
This is bound to be the first of many lawsuits if it is a success for Apple. Apple filed suit against Atico International, claiming that theirĀ iPod speakers infringe on the “Made for iPod” marketing label. It would seem however that there are many more subtle ways for third party companies to design iPod accessories and still not infringe on Apple’s trademarks. I think there will be a marketing shift coming about soon that will avoid lawsuits and still lead the consumer to realise that these products are designed for the iPod.
AT&T Back To 3 Limit On iPod
After only a few short days AT&T has reversed its decision to limit purchases of the new generation of iPods to 1 per customer. It is now back to their original 3 per customer rule.
