Rogers Slated To Run Cheaper Data Plans In Canada
It has been reported by the National Post that Rogers will be significantly lower data rates (at least on some data plans) for the iPhone in Canada. This is huge, I would say after that initial hurdle of buying your iPhone it can be quite depressing forking over that huge monthly bill to use it to its fullest potential. This will finally bring Rogers in Canada on scale with AT&T in the US at around $30 a month for you and I, and at $45 a month for corporate clients (both for unlimited data transfers). However the catch, as if there is ever a deal without a catch this days, is that you will be required to sign a 3-year contract. And with Apple running the way it does these days who knows how data will even be calculated in 3 years!

NXP Releases World’s Fastest Cellular Modem

This is it, with the pending and soon to be 3G iPhone release next week NXP has kicked out something that most of us have been dreaming about for quite a long while now. The fastest cell modem the world has ever seen. This bad boy can hit data transfer rates of 150Mbits down and 50Mbits up! They predict the ability to download an entire HD movie in 7 minutes flat. I for one can’t wait, but I’ll have to. Release is slated for some time around quarter 2 of 2009.
Telefonica to distribute iPhone in 16 countries
Telefonica is set to sell Apple’s iPhone in 16 countries, mostly Latin America with the exception of the Czech Republic. It would seem the iPhone is almost worldwide now with many providers introducing the iPhone to more than 10 countries this month, the iPhone will soon be available in nearly ever reach of the earth with full, legal, and licensed service.
3G iPhone Patent Published
Well here it comes, rumor no more! The US Government published patents for both the 3G iPhone and the v 2.0 software. Although it could be a while yet, I’d venture to say that Apple is coming close to unleashing its new beast, so be on the watch.

iPhone Rumor: Orange Will Upgrade Your iPhone
This is great news, as all iPhone users know Apple loves to release something new that made your hundreds of dollars just spent obsolete. However, at least at this point, it is only a rumor. It should be noted that even though Orange does not provide service in many countries (probably the one you’re in) most providers follow suit if they see another provider can provide a service that improves their PR and remains profitable. So look forward, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
