Google Launches Voice Search For Apple Iphone

iPod News

The New York Times reported Friday that Google has released its own voice activated search for Iphone, downloadable for free through the Apple Itunes store. The application uses advanced speech recognition software which interprets the user’s vocal request, and passes it on to Google’s search engine. The results can be displayed in as little as a few seconds, depending on the network speed.

Google is not the only search engine to offer voiced based mobile services. Both Yahoo, and MSN currently offer voice activated search services as well. AT&T is also developing a voice recognition system that would employ Google to complete the interpreted searches. This latest initiative is only a small portion of Google’s wider exploration into speech recognition technology.

Many Android advocates questioned Google’s decision to debut the new service on the Ipone rather than the T-Mobile G1. However, Google’s motivation is obvious. While T-Mobile is expected to sell just under 1 million G1’s by the end of this year, Apples sales of the Iphone will top out at over 11 million.

Finally! Crystal Quest for iPhone

iPhone News

crystalquest.jpg
I’ve been waiting.

Waiting and hoping for someone… anyone to port Crystal Quest to the iPhone. I’d search for it almost everyday in the iTunes App Store but nothing even close was introduced. Well the wait finally ended!

Crystal QuestCrystal Quest? [click takes you to iTunes Store] by Hands-On Mobile is here and I couldn’t be happier.
From the moment I tried some of the accelerometer games for the iPhone, I knew Crystal Quest would be the perfect match for this gaming platform. The original game had almost an “anti-gravity” feel to the game play when you controlled your ship.

Crystal Quest was originally owned by Cassidy and Greene back in the days where I had my Macintosh SE. It was one of the most addicting games back in 1987 and a great way to learn to use a mouse as a controller for a game.

The object of the game is to pilot your ship and collect crystals while avoiding the Nasties. Collecting all the crystals on the screen opens up the gateway and allows you to escape to the next level!

What’s even more cool is that Hands-on includes a classic mode with the original pixel graphics that I fell in love with as well as an updated “modernized” look.

If you’ve never tried Crystal Quest before, or you’ve got the itch to play a classic arcade like game on your iPhone, this might be just the ticket!
