AT&T Sues the Maps Off Verizon * UPDATE *

A scuffle brews between the Jets and the Sharks… It seems as though AT&T is at odds with Verizon over their new ad campaign. If you have watched television at all in the last few weeks, I am sure that you have seen the new Verizon ads that have set their sites square between the eyes of AT&T’s sparse 3G coverage. They have caused a stir over at AT&T, and thusly a stir at AT&T’s lawyer’s offices as well.
It seems as though AT&T has issued a complaint for temporary restraining order. Or “Stop it, or else!” for the layman. They are none too pleased about the fact that Verizon has portrayed AT&T’s network as super limited and that customers cannot get service in a majority of the nation. They have done this by cleverly showing the 3G coverage maps heads up instead of including the 2G networks as well. An excerpt from their complaint:
In essence, we believe the ads mislead consumers into believing that AT&T doesn’t offer ANY wireless service in the vast majority of the country. In fact, AT&T’s wireless network blankets the US, reaching approximately 296M people. Additionally, our 3G service is available in over 9,600 cities and towns. Verizon’s misleading advertising tactics appear to be a response to AT&T’s strong leadership in smartphones. We have twice the number of smartphone customers… and we’ve beaten them two quarters in a row on net post-paid subscribers. We also had lower churn — a sign that customers are quite happy with the service they receive.
After reading the reports, it seems as though the suit is pretty narrow, and has caused Verizon to rephrase some of the dialog, and to put, what is in essence the bare minimum of an asterisk and then tiny print at the bottom of the screen that is virtually impossible for the human eye to focus on, much less comprehend. After this, AT&T was not yet pleased, and said that this will only confuse the customers that are not tech savvy, and lead them to believe that AT&T provides no service at all outside its 3G network.

*Update: It seems as though the federal judge that heard the case has ruled against the temporary restraining order that AT&T asked for to get the Verizon ads yanked from the air, stating that the ads were misleading. The full case has yet to be heard, and is set for Dec 16th. The Verizon ads roll on, and AT&T fights back with a few of their own.
Review of Apple iPhone 3Gs
With a select number of distributors and a strong marketing policy, quality of the brand reached to everyone. An Apple product usually gives the owner a different feeling, we can say that owning an Apple device is special. Despite of that, however, owners are not often rewarded; Apple products: the Macbooks, the iPods and the iPhones are only rarely thoroughly updated, but at the same time, it shows general character of the brand.
The iPhone 3Gs is the newest third generation of Apple iPhones coming after the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. The iPhone 3G is very similar to the Apple iPhone 3Gs. Apple iPhone 3Gs has the same looks with The iPhone 3G, there is no way to separate them from each other. The only difference is the software enhancements, the digital compass, the higher resolution digital camera and the video function. Even though the upgrades are for iPhone 3Gs, still iPhone 3G users are pleased with these software upgrades because they can use a firmware update via iTunes to download some new features like copy / paste, the new search function and many other useful features.
The standby time of the iPhone 3Gs is very dependable, but battery life varies too much on how frequent the phone and features are used. The many different features of Apple iPhone 3Gs makes person to use them all day long, but you can be sure the battery is going to deplete in just one day. However, when used averagely a usage time of three to four days is possible. The built-in battery of iPhone 3Gs can’t be changed by the owner.
The upgraded 3.2 megapixels digital camera of the iPhone 3Gs serves better than iPhone 3G’s digital camera, in many different ways. The application can be selected through the menu, the application itself is very fast. The only way to take a picture is by touching the screen, not having a hard button for taking pictures is a disadvantage. Autofocus feature of the camera immediately works without waiting for the shutter button to be used, this system fastens the camera’s speed a lot. This means that the camera is always focused, this way it enables to take photos continuously in a fast way; normally focus is centre located but focus point can be altered by the user.
To think that Apple is also producer of iPods, expectations for iPhone 3Gs as a music player are high. It is good to know the buyers are going to be satisfied about the media player function of the iPhone 3Gs.
Surfing through the web with advanced Safari web browser is very easy. You can easily zoom in or out by moving just two fingers, enabling to access large websites. Other than not supporting Flash, it works very well. For e-mailing, the iPhone 3Gs is very easy to use. To access to your e-mail account all you have to do is enter username and password to the Gmail application at the quick bar which is at the bottom of iPhone 3Gs. The improved software that comes with iPhone 3Gs enables you to type in landscape mode and the new copy / past feature is very useful.
