Car iPods and iPod Kits
Car iPods are great to take your music with you everywhere you go. Not only can you listen to your entire library with your car iPod but you can actually listen to live music with an FM transmitter. Right now there’s a lot of different car iPod kits on the market catered to individual preferences. There’s also the option of just having your standard iPod and listening to the songs within your own library.
Are you Ready for a 500 Terabyte iPod?
How big is your iPod? Bet it’s not 500 terabytes, but it soon could be, thanks to researchers at the University of Glasgow.
The clever Scots have created new nanotechnology that’ll cram 500,000 GB (or just under 500 terabytes) onto a single chip just one inch square.
That’s enough space to store a mind boggling 127 million songs on a device as small as an iPod shuffle.
Explaining the science behind it all, Professor Lee Cronin said: “What we have done is find a way to potentially increase the data storage capabilities in a radical way. We have been able to assemble a functional nanocluster that incorporates two electron donating groups, and position them precisely 0.32 nm apart so that they can form a totally new type of molecular switching device.
“Molecule sized switches would lead to increasing data storage to say 4 Petabits per square inch… The fact these switches work on carbon means that they could be embedded in plastic chips so silicon is not needed and the system becomes much more flexible both physically and technologically.”
There’s no word on when (or even if) the new technology will go into production, but you can bet Apple’s already eyeing it, along with armies of other tech firms. Watch this space.
iPod Touch & Touch Screen Technology Took Four Decades To Catch On
I don’t suppose anyone remembers that touch screen technology has been around since the 70’s. That’s probably because it never really took off and went mainstream. Now there’s Microsoft’s new touch technology that launched last week and of course Apple’s iPods (about a million different generations now) and iPhones. When searching for a reason none of this was ever heavily implemented before I came to the usual conclusion. Its all about money, marketing, and the big boys. Since all of the patents from the early 70’s expired it gave the powerhouse Apple room to bust it out, and patent it. With their huge marketing bucks the iPod has become an everyday, every home, part of American living.
TubiTunes 1.0 Reviewed
There’s been a lot of buzz over the new TubiTunes 1.0 release. In case you’re unaware this is a program that allows you to download from places such as Youtube and then convert the media to iTunes / iPod / iPhone format. I gave it a test run and must say if there’s a Youtube vid you can’t live without this is a pretty cool new tool. Check it out if that’s your thing.
10 Weirdest iPod Accessories
This post by PCMag caught my attention, it was a pretty good read. The Hymn Book case is quite possibly the weirdest iPod accessory I’ve ever seen or heard of.

Not sure how something like this gets developed, or what type of people decide I have to have one of these (seeing as how 70% of all purchases are impulse buys). But I have to say, I think I’m gonna get one now
iPod Shuffle - Is It Even Really An iPod?
I read an interesting article today at Macenstein and would have to say that I agree! I would like to elaborate on a few of the key points.
The biggest thing I realized after reading this article was the Shuffle is probably only called an iPod to boost sales figures. If they can say “we sold 6 million iPods this quarter” it sounds a lot better than “we sold 1 million iPods this quarter, and a bunch of those cheap $30 mp3 player wannabe’s”.
The only similarities in my eyes are:
- Plays music, and this music comes out through headphones
- Can carry it around with you, in your pocket or something
- Has a battery that you can recharge
- Can sync to iTunes
- Has the word iPod in its name
So is the Shuffle really an iPod? I’ll let you decide…
j-clip
We recently recieved a request from the makers of this program to review it. And to be honest what we thought was spam turned into impressed, good software check it out.

Oftentimes when working on software development I’ll listen to the radio section of iTunes. Inevitably, while bouncing around several different radio stations I’ll catch something I like that I’ve never heard before or maybe something I have not heard for a long time. Who was that? What’s the story behind the song? Is there a video? Put off by bringing up the browser and manually performing a search, I’ll just let it go. But then I thought - wouldn’t it be great if I could just perform a couple of clicks and have it all done automaticallyVideo Demo:
Synch Media To iPod Using Windows Media Player

Obviously there are a couple clear advantages of this program. When synching your iPod using iTunes your iPod can only be synched to one library (or computer) at a time. With the use of this software you can throw songs on from any computer, without resetting your library! There are other great features about this. Without plugging into iTunes you don’t need to upgrade your firmware on your iPod if you don’t want to. This is perhaps the best software for all you Apple lovers we have stumbled across in a long time. That is why it has earned the highest ranking here, 5-stars.
DLUX iPod & iPhone Video Converter
New software release here, its called DLUX and is the hottest thing on the block. You can convert any video you have on your computer (mpg, avi, asf, wmv, rm, etc.) into MP4 (what both the iPod and iPhone use). Now you if you don’t want to use iPod / iPhone torrents where they are already in MP4 you can simply find movies by any means and convert them over. Check it out.
Apple Releases iPod Game ‘Phase’
The game ‘Phase’ anticipated at the iTunes 7.5 release was let loose yesterday. This is from the makers of Guitar Hero so it could be the next big fad. It will cost you $4.99 but people seem to think its worth it. It is super cool, you pick a song from your iTunes library and ‘Phase’ makes it a playable game level.

iPhone & iPod Torrents - Movies, TV Shows, Downloads…
Here is a quick overview of the best places out there for fast, cheap, and legitimate downloads of your favorite tv shows and new movies to put on your iPod and/or iPhone.
I’ve tried them all and here are my reviews:
![]()
Their site name is a bit misleading. All these downloads work on iPods and iPhones, not simply iPhones. This is my number one pick, I give it 5 stars. These guys have the absolute best selection and fastest download speeds. If you want to try a site, try this one.
![]()
This site is a close second place. The selection and download speeds are nearly identical. It still receives five stars but comes in second because the site is more plain. No flash, older site. This however may be to your liking. If you want the files without the fancy flash give these guys a try.
![]()
This site comes in third, however it may be a first round pick for some of you. This site like both the above is 100% legal and virus free. Its speeds are good. I found the selection in some ways lacking, however it has a lot of unique content such as European TV shows. If that’s your niche, check these guys out. I gave them four stars because they didn’t have a couple episodes I wanted at the time.

This site ranked last for me. The selection was top notch but speeds were slow at times. However it should be noted this is the cheapest site and the torrents found here can be for your computer as well as your iPod / iPhone. If you’re on a budget or want to get movies for your PC too, this one is still a good option. These guys earned only three stars because of the slow speeds at peak usage times.
That’s it for my iPod and iPhone torrent service reviews. It should be noted all of these companies are legitimate, and all of the torrents may be used on both your iPod and iPhone.
